Kano House of Assembly was on Tuesday put under lock and key as the states house of Assembly, Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria embarked on nationwide strike action.On a visit to the complex, our correspondent observed that no legislator was on hand to react to the development, as the entire premises was deserted.
According to him, the indefinite strike was aimed at shutting down the national and state assemblies over the non-implementation of financial autonomy by the governors. Yusuf added that after the President’s approval, the governors challenged the issue in court, but they were not able to succeed in stopping the autonomy.“Therefore, we have no option than to embark on an indefinite strike to call the attention of the governors.
“We were instructed by our national body not to negotiate with anyone on the issue, and I assure you we are not going to engage in any discussion with someone.
Do they still have power to give directives to anyone/agency loyal to the executives? Aren't they tagged mere rubber stamp reps?
