The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has said that the former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, contributed immensely to the growth and development of the country.

Commiserating with the family of the first civilian governor of Abia State, he said the deceased left great impacts as a governor and minister. Gaidam, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, said: 'I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the former Minister of Science and Technology in Nigeria. 'His contributions to the country as a politician, author, and engineer will always be remembered.

'Dr Onu's legacy as the first civilian governor of Abia State and his service as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation have left a lasting impact on the nation. 'His dedication to advancing science and technology in Nigeria has inspired many and his loss will be felt by all who knew him. 'My thoughts and prayers are with Dr Onu's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
