The Chairman, Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr Babatunde Osibodu, has said only one petition has been received by the tribunal set up to consider election petitions.
Osibodu said in a statement that OGSIEC had successfully conducted election into the 20 local government areas and 236 wards of the state. He was quoted to have said this in Abeokuta during a courtesy visit to the state Ministry of Information and Strategy. Osibodu stated, “It is the first time in the history of elections in this state and probably across Nigeria that only one petition was received by the tribunal set up to consider local government election petitions. There was no report of a breach of the peace, brigandage or anything that is against the law.
“We are pleased with the outcome of the election. The media also outperformed themselves in this particular election. Both the print and electronic as well as social media were very cooperative throughout the entire process.”
