Up to one million COVID-19 vaccines are estimated to have expired in Nigeria last month without being used, Reuters reported.

According to two sources who spoke to Reuters, it was one of the biggest single losses of doses that shows the difficulty of African nations in getting shots.

In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and home to more than 200 million people, fewer than 4% of adults have been fully vaccinated, according to the World Health Organization. They were supplied via COVAX, the dose-sharing facility led by the GAVI vaccine alliance and the WHO which is increasingly reliant on donations.

A count of the expired doses is still underway and an official number is yet to be finalised, the sources said.

It sure will, since our leaders would want to make themselves rich from any means available.

Imagine! Vaccine hesitancy among Nigerians is epic. Plus some health institutions probably seeking to make profit out of the damn vaccine. Now see. Nigeria is a very strange place!

Another billions of Naira gone down the drain. What a waste. Systemic and trust problems.

If this is true then we are a very stupid country.

That is one of the fears Nigerians have in taking vaccines because Nigerians finds it difficult to destroy expired things.. Imagine them destroying 1Million doses of expired vaccine🙇

It's only military language people understand here. To use their common sense is difficult. Take vaccine it protects you, no we won't until the virus does his magic then we start running up and down like headless chickens..

See how wasteful this ingrates are? Something that cost a lot of money they just leave it to waste, the story of this country.

Useless country!!! I am sure that they will giving people expired vaccines
