A total of seven political parties have fielded candidates to contest for chairmanship position in the 18 local government areas of Ondo State during the April 18 local government elections.Apart from the ruling All Progressives Congress that has candidates contesting in all the 203 wards and 18 local government areas, the African Democratic Congress and the African Action Congress fielded six candidates for chairmanship position.

This was contained in the list pf Chairmanship and councillorship candidates released by the Ondo Independent Electoral Commission . Chairman of ODIEC, Prof. Yomi Dinakin, said candidates of 13 political parties were screened before their names were displayed.Some of the political parties chieftains who spoke said they were satisfied with the processwe put in place by ODIEC.

Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party, Mr. Remi Olayiwola, said the party is prepared for the polls.
