According to him, COHEADS recommends the conversion and upgrading of polytechnics into campuses of their proximate universities, while the largest polytechnics in each of the geo-political zones should be converted into full-fledged universities of technology. Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof Tunji Olaopa, has called for the scrapping of the Higher National Diploma awarded by polytechnics.
Academic Staff Union of Universities has protested the withheld three and half months’ salaries, promotion arrears, and earned academic allowances among other demands. Nigeria Bar Association and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have reiterated their commitment to tackle corruption in the country.
