Workforce of NPDC/NECONDE JV in OML 42, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday reportedly caused a stir at the yard as a result of a peaceful protest over welfare related issues.

Sources hinted that the aggrieved workers listed to the management their alleged grievances which included poor welfare of workers, poor salary payment and such other issues.

They were said to have carried placards with inscriptions such as “No food, no crew change, No COVID-19 test, poor welfare of workers, poor salary payment, etc.” One of the workers who would not want his name in print said, “The peaceful protest came up during today’s crew change of 20th January 2022.”

However, an official of NPDC was quoted as telling the protesting workforce that “the company is trying its best in taking care of the workers,” adding that he is hopeful that the protest “will be brought under control soon enough.”
