Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission , the All Progressives Congress and the three-man caretaker committee of the APC in the state. In an originating summon, the NNPP alleged that the APC had no locus standi to contest the elections, on the basis that the “party had dissolved its state working committee in December 8, 2020.”
“The caretaker committee set up by the 2nd defendant, upon the dissolution of the elected state working committee of the 2nd defendant in Ogun State by the National Executive Committee on December 8, 2020, has no lawful powers to administer the affairs of the 2nd defendant in Ogun State. “The state Chairman of the 2nd defendant did not sign the nomination forms of the 3rd defendants before submission to the 1st defendant on the date stipulated in the time table and schedule of activities for the July 24, 2021 local government chairmanship election,” the summons read in part.
“What the APC has been celebrating will definitely be short-lived. We have taken our case to court and we have prayed that all the candidates of the APC be disqualified and our own candidates be announced as the winners of the last Saturday election in Ogun State.
