Ahead of the Friday, August 14, 2020, reopening of worship centres in Ogun State, the state government has begun a final assessment of such centres.

The government is set to lift the ban on congregational services following the declaration by Governor Dapo Abiodun that the state would reopen worship centres on Friday.

Other members of the state’s COVID-19 Task Force on the visiting team were the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami; his Culture and Tourism counterpart, Dr Toyin Taiwo; and Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun; and Special Advisers to the Governor on Health, Dr Tayo Lawal; and Public Communication, Remi Hazzan.

She reiterated that the Abiodun administration would continue to monitor the strict adherence to the guidelines by worship centres from August 14. “We have seen the measures put in place for social distancing, regular washing of hands and how the church intends to monitor the compulsory wearing of face masks by congregants as well as plans on fumigation and other strict guidelines. What we have seen will be conveyed to the governor for necessary action.”
