To meet the increasing demand for effective and efficient nursing care, nurses have been urged to regularly update their professional knowledge.

Chairman, Head of Nursing Department and Principals of Schools in Federal Health Institutions, Bala Dikko, gave the advice during the 21st Yearly General Meeting/Scientific Conferences of the body of Heads of Nursing Services Department and Principals of Schools in Federal Institutions, with the theme, “Nursing: The Future of Healthcare.”

Dikko noted that the conference was timely, especially as the profession is daily challenged with braindrain, insecurity and economic situation in the country. He said that the instruments to tackle braindrain included low stress environment and better pay, infrastructure and working equipment, team work and manpower, opportunities for promotion and career development, reward and incentives.

Also, professor of Nursing, Department of Nursing, Obafemi Awolowo University , Adenike Olaogun, urged nurses to reactivate compassion while rendering their services
