The Nigeria Union of Journalists has deleted the names of the National Orientation Agency staff and Local Governments Information Officers from the list

The body during a recent delegates conference in Kano State took the decision to expunge the names from the Union’s Constitution.

During the Constitution Review Session, the delegates agreed that NOA staff would no longer be accorded NUJ membership. The delegates noted that NOA elected officials would be allowed to serve out their term of office as members of the NUJ. The gathering also passed a new law barring staff of ministries of information adjudged as non-practising journalists from being accorded NUJ membership.

Delegates in session also concurred that Local Government public relations officers should no longer be handed NUJ membership status
