The Governing Council of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, has reportedly shortlisted three professors for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the state-owned university, stating the importance of merit in the selection process.

DAILY POST reports that NSUK has been without a substantive Vice-Chancellor since April 2, with Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo serving in an acting capacity following the expiration of the tenure of the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed.

However, stakeholders have urged the Visitor and Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, to ensure that due process is followed in selecting the Vice-Chancellor. They stated that the quality of the university is currently at its lowest and appealed to Governor Sule not to compromise on merit in the appointment. However, a retired teacher, identified as Mallam Yunusa, alleged that the Governor's preferred candidate did not meet the job criteria.
