Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has said for elections and governance to advance in the country, engineering innovation should be involved.

The association stated this at the Fifth Memorial Lecture and Foundation Laying Ceremony of NSECAL Hotels and Resorts organised by its Calabar branch.

The lecture has the theme: “Improving Elections and Governance in Nigeria through Engineering Innovations and Involvement”. Former chairman of the state branch of the association, who is also a lecturer at the University of Cross River , Dr. Nsed Akojom, asked engineers to apply their training to critical areas of nation building by improving the election process and governance with new innovations.

The President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria Mr. Ali Rabiu, said the present government had not done enough in patronising indigenous engineers across the country. Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and President of NSE, Tasiu Gidari-Wudil, said most government policies and social amenities revolved around engineering, hence the need to seek ways of improving elections and governance in Nigeria through engineering innovations and involvement.
