Okhiria stated this while speaking with Daily Trust on Thursday.According to him, an investigation has begun to determine what really happened on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
An explosion led to the shutdown of the engine of the train. A backup train had to convey the passengers at about 12:15am to Rigasa train station in Kaduna. The NRC suspended service on the rail line as a precaution, but Okhiria says they are working to ensure it is restored by Thursday evening . “So we have issues with the track and we are fixing it. We are working to resume train services and by today’s evening, we should run if possible,” he said.
“We operated a train from Kaduna to Abuja this morning but we had to suspend operations due to the damaged track until we fix it.”
