THE Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has intercepted a heavy-duty truck conveying no fewer than 970 railway sleepers to an unknown destination.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abass Mohammed, made the disclosure during a press conference organised at the Command’s headquarter on Thursday in Lafia. He explained that the command, in its resolve to ensure that government infrastructure and properties in the state were protected, came up with strategies aimed at tracking down vandals across the 13 local government areas of the state.

“We have been making efforts to ensure that government infrastructure in Nasarawa State are protected and I am happy that we are making progress. I want to thank our colleagues in Benue state because they supported us in recovering these vandalised 970 railway sleepers which was being taken to an unknown destination.

“We intercepted the truck at Kadarko in Keana Local Government Area here in Nasarawa, but we did not see the vandals in the vehicle when it finally stopped. I have directed officers of the command to go after them and ensure that they are arrested.
