Political leaders in general and in civil political dispensation, in particular, will do well to exert themselves to deliver on the ‘dividends of democracy’. They will also do well in avoiding the temptation to undertake tenure elongation via constitutional amendments. Where they are successful, they are often confronted with a crisis of legitimacy, which oftentimes snowballs into a full-blown political crisis.

We are on the same page with them. A war, any war, is not a stroll in a park. It is a marathon race in the desert—unpredictable, harsh, and unforgiving. It must be avoided at all costs, especially war in and with a country that, for all intents and purposes, is considered an extension of Nigeria. What is more? Putting a national economy that is already in a tailspin on a war footing is not the wisest choice for us.
