The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, on Friday, condemned the ongoing practice of some electricity distribution companies forcing customers to invest in the replacement of distribution infr

astructure such as transformers and cables as a condition for the restoration of electricity supply.

“In this regard, customers are hereby requested to report any electricity distribution company that has engaged in the practice of forcing customers to supply materials and/or installation as a precondition for providing or restoring electricity supply,” the commission declared in a document on Friday.

What is check. & balance put in place. Customers are replacing xformers, cables, poles etc, with undertaking not to demand refund, or remain in darkness for life

Useless NERC. We are contributing 2k per building to get IBEDC_NG to repair and return their transformer to working status. Equally useless and unscrupulous IBEDC_NG officials.

NERC part of the failed state called Nigeria. speaking from both sides of the mouth. Scam.

NERC has failed Nigerians. They should stop barking if they can't bite. Just last month we had to contribute 500 each to repair our transformer b cause if you report to NERCNG the matter will take eternity and you won't get light again in your life time. NERC is suck.

I can't understand why anyone is being coerced into investing in any DisCo network. SolarCentricTec offers a good alternative to d DisCos. SolarCentric develops Power Projects/IPP/Minigrid & sell energy to you. Shikena! Tariff on d grid is even going up by 78%. Reach out to us.

I hope my people will realize and stop buying

The Discos are d biggest scam in Nigeria . You provide all d equipment and still pay ur bills. I think more private companies should be given license to generate and distribute power then all dis nonsense will stop.

So why we paying attention tax in this country? Why are Nigerians stupidly allowing nonsense to continue? We will buy transformers and still pay for power?

But they can make us 'dance to their tune'!

Nigeria zoo is not working

Actively or passively?

At the appropriate season and time NERC will definitely render their account of stewardship for the 1.7 trillion tsunami of all darkness. No one need to be told NERC is fast trading away the Company reputations and fast losing the confident of their constituencies.

These are just social media law. It doesn't hold water. Here in Benin, we contributed 6k per house to fix ours. After fixing, our street didnt still have based cable and they want us to buy that cos dey keep say dey are waiting for stock.

Stories, in my area we bought cable and transformer by ourselves and even have to pay Napa( disco) staffs 150k to do the installation. Useless country

Where am staying, the transformer get spoilt since November, each houses are asked to contribute for the repair, hopefully by February we are going to have light

Meaning?

Right now my community has contributed and bought 15 poles and is contributing money to buy transformer in Makurdi the State capital.

As if we have a choice, they make u pay 4 everything and still make profits from the money people contributed. Disco is an embarrassment to this joke called Nigeria.

So what will happen if we don't buy?

Stop saying what we already know. Are customers supposed to buy transformers.

I just hope that EEDC should hear this. Its their tradition here in the South East

Story Story Y won't u say there should be a refund to the the communities and individuals who bought cables, poles and transfomers That will make more sense

Na for new paper and television but not for real life bro

Park well

What is all this propaganda about now, which area in Nigeria as Disco's provide transformer or cables before. Expect ur place.

Una talk na only for twitter and newspaper... NERCNG abeg act, no dey talk plenty turenchi

Nerc is a fail commission that contribute to the problem of Nigeria electricity users, they took bribe from disco that is they only bark but can't bite.

But what of the meter? some Discos are forcing their customers to buy meters upon they have meters

They don’t force them, they blackmail they by telling them they don’t have it and it will take like forever before they would get it or they can get it them self by providing the funds

It's like these guys don't live in Nigeria. In my area, even those of is who don't use NEPA contributed two poles and 50k for cables.

NERC should not just say this They should ensure it doesnt happen

Pls work d talk!

They won't force you, but you will buy it willing when you don't have light for 6month. How about you are man enough to withdraw their licenses

They are forcing us indirectly

They are already doing that, and doing worst. No prepaid metres and nothing is happening to them, no sanctions for over billings. The citizens are just suffering for nothing

Tell us how long it will take to install or fix one so as to know if it worth waiting of kukuma contribute to buy and save life.

My area doesn't have light for 10months now simply because the neighborhood could not provide 8million for a new transformer.

E Park well joor, failed commission.
