Kanu had a few years ago jumped bail and escaped from the country after the Nigerian military invaded his Afaraukwu Ibeku country home in 2017. The IYC disclosed that it will interface with critical Igbo leaders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other sociocutural groups in the southeast region to ensure Kanu gets a fair trial through close monitoring in the purported treasonable felony charges preferred against him by the federal government.
The IYC reiterated its call to the federal government and her agencies to allow family members and doctor have access to the remanded IPOB leader, warning that it will spell doom to the country should Nnamdi Kanu be allowed to die in the custody on the account of ill-health
