Police in Cross River State, South-south Nigeria, have confirmed the arrest of a woman who allegedly beheaded her 11 months child in Yonen community, Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
She said the child was killed on Tuesday, and that the police immediately stepped to prevent the woman from being attacked by mob. “It is quite unfortunate and devastating,” she said, adding that the suspect is in protective custody.The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that the mother of two allegedly used a machete to cut off the head of the baby.
The timely intervention of the police, who immediately took the lady into protective custody and moved her out of Ugep, saved her from the mob.
