The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Police has returned the money its personnel extorted from a young man, Emmanuel Ojochagbe Peter. SaharaReporters had reported how Peter was arrested by the officers on illegal duty around Byazhin in Kubwa, Abuja. The victim said he was treated like a criminal by the policemen who accused him of being a kidnapper. According to him, he was later forced to transfer N500,000 four times to one Atatu Ramatu with First Bank account number 2038518054.

SaharaReporters had reported how Peter was arrested by the officers on illegal duty around Byazhin in Kubwa, Abuja. “I was dragged in a bus by six policemen yesterday at Byazhin across Kubwa, they collected my phone from me by force, asked me to unlock my phone which I did after going through my phone and seeing nothing, they started calling me a kidnapper,” he said.

Armed robbery is stealing at gun / knife point it doesn't matter who is holding the weapon or what uniform/ clothing they put on, if they collect your property with the use of a weapon and threat of extreme violence, it armed robbery and they are armed robbers.

Where are the human right activists,there should be a follow up on this case to punish the erring police officers. Many won’t be that lucky to get the money back.
