Nigerian newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Tuesday morning

1. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed November 16 for a fresh election in Kogi west senatorial district involving Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party and Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Festus Okoye, chairman, information and voter committee of INEC, disclosed this on Monday. According to INEC, the senatorial election and the Kogi governorship election would hold simultaneously.

3. A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, Monday ordered the temporary forfeiture of two properties belonging to the immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to the Federal Government. The said properties are located in Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

5. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday reviewed the bail conditions earlier granted to Omoleye Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu waived his earlier order, reducing Sowore deposit to N50million from N100m and reduced the amount attached to Bakare’s bail from N50million to N20million.

7. The Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Jalal Arabi, has disclosed that some of the vehicles used for daily operations in the State House were purchased as far back as 1999 and have become very difficult to maintain. He disclosed this on Monday when he led his management team to the National Assembly for the defence of the 2020 budget proposals of the State House before the House Committee on Special Duties.
