1. Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kano State, Lawan Musa has said the State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is ready to sign the death warrant of the convicted Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara. A Sharia Court earlier convicted the embattled cleric after finding him guilty of the charge of blasphemy levelled against him.
3. Travellers and motorists going to the South-East have expressed relief over the temporary opening of the second Niger Bridge. President Muhammadu Buhari, who opened the bridge yesterday for use during the festive season, counselled road users to drive safely and responsibly. 5. Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said it is closely monitoring the spending patterns of top politicians in order to forestall a situation where they would use funds to influence the electoral process. Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa said the commission is being careful not to invite some of them for questioning in order not to be misconstrued as political witch-hunting.
7. Protesters, yesterday, barricaded the entrance of the National Assembly and called on lawmakers to support the Central Bank of Nigeria cashless policy and currency redesign. The agitators under the umbrella of Initiatives for Patriotic Nigerians argued that the new policy would stabilise exchange rate and promote free and fair elections.
