The Nigerian government has listed some of the agreements reached with Twitter before the suspension of its ban.Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency revealed that some of the agreements reached with Twitter include legal registration of its operations, taxation, and managing prohibited publications in line with Nigerian laws.

“Twitter has also agreed to appoint a designated country representative to interface with Nigerian authorities.The microblogging site also agreed to comply with applicable tax obligations on its operations under Nigerian law.“The Partner Support Portal provides a direct channel for government officials and Twitter staff to manage prohibited content that violates Twitter community rules.

1st, Nigeria is not even among the top 20 active Twitter users in the world. 2nd, Twitter only has 0.17% share of Nig social media space (approx 3m users). Even LinkedIn has more active users in Nigeria than Twitter. So why will Twitter accede to one unreasonable demand?
