Nobel laurete, Prof Wole Soyinka, has described the state of education in the country as horrifying, saying Nigeria is in trouble.

The prolific playwright spoke on Sunday at the University of Lagos, Akoka, during the presentation of a play, ‘Folly of Men.’

Soyinka, Osofisan and Sowande, who were old students of the college, were presented with different awards, along with Dr Christopher Kolade, and the late T.M. Aluko. Osofisan noted that government needed to invest more in education, adding that infrastructure and teachers’ salaries should be improved.

When you have an Adamu who has never written a page document before as Minister of Education😆😃😀

PLACNG Same old story. We shall get there soon, all we need is to talk less and do more!

Did he study abroad to have become a Nobel Laurette?

Is he just waking up to this reality? He needed to see BBCAfrica interviews with UnilagNigeria students on sex for grades. BBCAfrica was shockingly helping them to complete simple sentences.

But you are among the people that brought this upon us the moment you endorsed PMB. You are our leader so try to do something about it

Like seriously no connection no admission

Medicine after death

We've known for some time now What do u suggest?

Confused old man. After enabling an illiterate candidate to rule, you expect him to improve the educational sectors?

Local prof is disappointed

Lol. Since when? Only the THERICHCHILDREN enjoy education in Nigeria. If you don't have connection NO_ADMISSION

may God come to the rescue of this country

You can say that again Prof!

Until is a law in this country that if you want to be a leader of any post in Nigeria you must attend public school. By then they will equip our schools

What about all d affidavits and fake certificates flying all over d country. All just to get top notch govt appointments. D funny thing is many of d culprits are often not even Nigerians but foreigners dat have forged Nigerian citizenship

Started when university was for the highest bidder or before then. 🤔

Academic standards are falling everyday Prof sir. Not even the government gives a damn about what anybody's course of study. At the end, it will be you and what skill(s) you've acquired that will ensure your relevance and financial security under the Nigerian economy

Na today☹️

There's no doubt about that Prof. Public education system has been rendered useless and hopeless in Nigeria due to poor budgetary allocation, poor remuneration package for teachers/lecturers, poor infrastructures, poor instructional materials, sex for grade and cash for grade.

Serious issue
