A Nigerian consultant based in the United Kingdom, Adekunle Okunuga, suspended for beating his 10-year-old son, has been reinstated.

When his parents picked him up from school, Okunuga began slapping his son in the car from the passenger seat.Whenever his child lost his balance, Okunuga reportedly hit him with the handle of the floor brush on the back of his legs and then kicked him to make him stand upright again. Okunuga was arrested and convicted in September 2014 at Leamington Spa Magistrates’ Court for ill-treating a child and was sentenced to eight weeks in jail suspended for a year with a requirement to complete 160 hours of unpaid work after being found guilty of serious professional misconduct by a disciplinary panel.

“My behaviour was borne out of my cultural upbringing, I should have known better and I take full responsibility for my actions. If I were to witness a similar occurrence by one of my colleagues, I would be the first to speak up and take action and report it to the appropriate authorities.” In giving Okunuga the all-clear to return to medicine, MPTS chairman, Ms. Sharmistha Michaels, said: “Then tribunal noted that Child A was returned to Dr. Okunuga four months after the incident, and a child protection order placed on Dr. Okunuga was removed three months after this in January 2015.

UK, you are suspending a doctor only for beating a child, why in Nigeria the use gun and kill more of us,still UK kept silence.

Our culture is gone and it is the same British that kux the problem Nigerians are facing today, i could remember when and how my daddy used to beat me with native koboko called iberi, and later grand fresh or dry pepe then rube it on all over my body... I was force to humble.

It in the blood

That's the expression you will see on the faces of community members after they suspend popsy from working because of me, because they know what will happen if he sees me in that house....SON DON'T DARE GO HOME

Send that boy home to learn how to behave else he will ends up on the street with knife, a common behaviour of spoilt English boy.

That how they physically abuse childrean all in the name of culture yet the nation is in shambles what a waste of generational scar and psychological torture that yielded less.

Smart guy! Our culture would have been a yard stick for moral standard. But the royal fathers and traditional rulers who shld protect it have monetized it. Money over culture. Now a king stands to greet a rich politicians..

This one shock me!

make his papa talk say dem get Naija visitation.. Give am heavy knock for airport

This beat-beat culture inside our culture for Nigeria is the same beat-beat we see in our law enforcement and Africa as a whole. The problem is, if your only answer is to beat or flog in Nigeria, you will have the same urge to beat or flog in any part of the world you are in.

Bring him back home, discipline him and take him back. I don't support raising idiots.

White hypocrites!!!

That boy risks twelve years internship at home.
