The Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court in Lagos on Thursday convicted a teenager, Uzuokwu Solomon of two counts preferred against him by the state. Magistrate Bambo Odueke of the Magistrate Court in the Ogba area of Ikeja, the state capital, committed Solomon to a month in prison with an option of a fine and a month of community service, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat, disclosed this on Friday. Solomon’s punishment includes making a campaign against false calls within the jurisdiction of the state.

The ruling also follows the court's acknowledgement of the noble firefighting profession and the ‘effective service delivery of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service that requires the encouragement of all and sundry’. Adeseye also used the occasion to note the seeming reduction in false calls since the advent of the case and pledged to work with the culprit in using his community service as another medium to reach a large audience among other efforts being championed by the agency.
