“If Nigerians do not assert constitutionalism with all peaceful and democratic means, this country might well be resting in pieces in the grip of dictatorship and arbitrariness.”

• No court invasion in 30 years of military dictatorship, Falana says

In the statement referred to by Afenifere, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidency had said: “This is a matter for the DSS, acting under its powers. The DSS does not necessarily need the permission of the presidency in all cases to carry out its essential responsibilities that are laid down in the Nigerian Constitution – which was the foundation for the restoration of democracy in our country in 1999.

“To believe in and desire armed revolution is not normal amongst ‘human rights activists’, as Sowore has been incorrectly described. Nigeria is already dealing with an insurgency that has left millions of people displaced and desperate in the northeastern region of our country. “We strongly condemn this act of impunity by security agencies under the Buhari administration. This is a worrisome development and gives the impression that these acts of impunity have the blessings of Mr. President.” Similarly, the Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria said: “Any democracy that is not entrenched on the rule of law will breed anarchy.” It noted the nation’s democracy is in danger if someone who has been granted bail by the court could be rearrested within the courtroom.

Meanwhile, in a statement yesterday, Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana, faulted “the self-contradictory press release of the SSS in which an unsuccessful attempt was made to absolve itself of responsibility for the armed invasion of the Federal High Court, Abuja.”He explained: “Though, ordinarily, officers of the Service do not wear any uniform, on the 6th day of December, some of them were in mufti, many were not only armed but also masked while others disguised in lawyer’s black and white suit.

Is calling for a revolution constitutional?

Nigeria will not and shall never, tolerate any invasion by a so-called citizen that doesnt even live with us in our dear country but stays abroad....trying to create unrest and agony to the face of Nigerians....never!..., YeleSowore

Obeying court order (Rule of Law) is the hallmark of Democracy. But then Sowore was wrong to instigate revolution. But then ,the country will not rest in any pieces Should Sowore was rearrested. Bigger things has happened in this country and nothing happened .who is sowore.

🇳🇬ns, the only people on the face of this world who wish fire and brimstone upon themselves and self because of impatience, ignorance, run away emotions and mental disorder. Enjoy o!

Nothing will happen just because Someone is arrested. He threatened a legitimate Government with coup d'etat. What the DSS is doing is right and he Swore should not go free because Nigeria is not the backyard of his house that he thinks he can toyed with.
