In a statement on Wednesday, Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s spokesperson, said grid disturbances declined by 76.47 percent in five years. She said the country recorded 20 system collapses from 2020 till date, compared to the 85 grid disturbances between 2015 to 2019. “Clearly, between 2020 to date , we recorded fourteen total and six partial grid disturbances totalling twenty , which represents a 76.47% reduction in grid disturbance, when compared to the previous five years, where we had sixty-four total and twenty-one partial grid disturbances, totalling eighty-five times,” the TCN spokesperson said.“This improvement is, however, not unconnected to the continuous effort by the management under Engr.

The commission said there is room for improvement and promised to keep up its work to further reduce the number of grid disturbances to the barest minimum.The country also suffered another nationwide blackout on March 28 following a grid collapse.
