I don’t think so. I know some talks have been going on among some political parties. Let us see what happens, if this can be achieved in the first quarter of 2022 or not. Nigeria is still running a mono-economy that is largely dependent on oil revenue despite the much talk about agriculture. How can the government show more commitment towards diversifying the economy?
It is obvious that the old ways of thinking and doing politics have not worked for us as Nigerians. But it requires us, each one of us, to have the courage to cast our votes in a different direction instead of repeating the same patterns that have only delivered increasing poverty, unemployment, terrorism and general insecurity in the land.The real problem in Nigeria is not power shift, but the capacity and competence of the individuals that we choose when we do the power shift.
Well, in a democracy, there will be many views rather than just one voice. The important thing is to achieve consensus based on what is in the best long-term interest of our country and its stability and unity.
