The Niger State Universal Basic Education Board has sacked at least 20 teachers in Public Primary Schools for certificate forgery and abscondment from

Those dismissed, it was gathered cut across nine council areas of Bida, Lapai, Agaie, Katcha, Lavun, Mashegu, Munya, Shiroro and Kontagora.

Confirming the sack in a press statement signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Idris Kolo, said the decision was taken to flush out unqualified teachers in the state. “The decision was taken at the management meeting in furtherance to the board’s determination to ensuring that only those with requisite qualifications and zeal to work would be allowed into the teaching profession especially at the basic level of education in the state.”

In a breakdown, it stated that four persons were sacked from Gbako Local Government, three each from Bida and Lapai, two each from Agaie, Katcha and Lavun and one each from Mashegu, Munya and Shiroro while one teacher was dismissed in Kontagora for dereliction of work.The statement cited the Chairman of the Board, Dr.
