NHIS boss seeks to close gaps in police health services

Mohammed Sambo submitting and signing his letter of appointment at the NHIS head office in Abuja on Tuesday.The Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme , Mohammed Sambo, has kicked off his campaign of revamping the scheme with a pledge to effectively address gaps in healthcare services to officials of the Nigerian Police Force nationwide.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how Mr Sambo, a professor of Health Policy and Management, was appointed as substantive head of the NHIS after his predecessor, Usman Yusuf, was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari on June 1, following allegations of fraud and misconduct. He promised to initiate the process of accreditation of police healthcare facilities across the country, the statement said.
