PAD Her Initiative, a non-governmental organisation , says deploying technology for students with special needs will assist them in attaining academic excellence.
Speaking at a one-day empowerment programme on Wednesday, Ngozi Ukpai-Okoro, founder and director of the organisation, said special students must not be left out as digital and technology are defining many shares of life. The event which was organised to mark the International Day of the Girl Child was held at the Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos with the themeAccording to Ukpai-Okoro, the workshop focused on empowering women and girls with disabilities through digital literacy, advocacy, and health awareness.“The objective of the event was to empower and inspire female students with disabilities and raise awareness about the challenges they face,” she said.
On his part, Gabriel Odunsin, programme coordinator at TechSocietal, advised the students to beware of cyberbullying and encouraged them to prevent themselves from being taunted online.
