Ngige clarifies position on doctors’ migration

Mr Ngige made this known in a statement signed by Nwachukwu Obidiwe, his Special Assistant on Media, in Abuja on Thursday.

“Having retired as a Deputy Director, Medical Services and Training from the Federal Ministry of Health in 1998, member of Vision 2010 Committee on Health as well as senior member, Senate Committee on Health 2011-2015, therefore the truth no matter how it hurts, must be told and reality, boldly faced.

The minister added that Nigeria did not at present, have enough health facilities to accommodate all the doctors seeking to do tertiary specialist training in the teaching hospitals, federal medical centres and few accredited state and private specialist centres in the country. “They later turn this problem to a national advantage when they repatriate their legitimate earnings and later return to the country.

He also noted that a good number of doctors were relocating from the United States and other European countries. “But the truth is that the Federal Government has in its 2019 Budget now before the National Assembly, implemented the Health Act provisions for one per cent of the consolidated revenue of the Federation to be added to the health budget to boost medical services.

Nigeria politicians go for television interviews and alter gibberish, come to social media for damage control. Too bad

Common electricity is zero so why wont they migrate

He is a fool he can go to hell

Clarifier.

What do you expect when you have ignorant and misinformed beings at the helm of affairs of a country? So disgraceful!

Don't bother, you're not coming back as a Minister

Clarifies what? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Two things I comprehend from this is: there are insufficient places for doctors. And the available places are in the hinterland. Both sceneriis still falls on govt to create more opportunities and offer incentives for work in the hinterland. In saner climes, encouraging brain

The damage is done yeye minister

Edited: Please ask this man when last did he entered the consulting room?

Please ask this man, when last he did he entered the consulting room?

Damage control, to no good.

Why talk without thinking?

Empty minister

Dear Dr Chris Ngige: Our dream should not be to send our children for others to train and return them. Our dream, should be that we hand hold and train them. Building capacity of Nigerian doctors is our responsibility and not for someone to struggle for survival abroad MBuhari

He's feeling the heat and now want to twist the original statement

We must equip our hospitals to allow our doctors serve bc even in the cities there no enough medical facilities to allow them serve well. We also cannot be relying on sending them abroad. Our dream must focus on attracting other countries to come to Nigeria for medical tourism!

Your interview is on the internet already...you cannot repaint or rephrase those words anymore...its a pity

In saner climes, you only have one chance to make a good impression, so they prepare adequately for interviews whether formal or not. But our Nigerian people go to press without adequate preparation, bungle the interview, then come back for damage control. Who does that?

As always
