The NFF recently laid to rest the controversy over Waldrum’s when it announced that its technical committee has been mandated to start negotiations with the American over a new contract.
Waldrum, who led Nigeria to the second round of the 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand, said after the tournament that he would like to continue on his job until at least the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. NFF’s Media Director, Ademola Olajire, during the week reaffirmed that the NFF Technical Committee would soon start negotiations with Waldrum, while dismissing the report of a new deal for the coach.
Olajire said: “Nobody has talked about how many months/years the Falcons coach will be given. This will only be known after the technical committee’s discussions with him.” Nigeria will meet Ethiopia in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games between October 23 and 31, 2023.Africa will be represented by two countries in the women’s football event at the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be staged in Paris, France. The Super Falcons failed to qualify for the last three editions of the Olympic Games.
