The newborn who was rescued from a pit toilet in Anambra State three days after he was delivered has died.
The child was thereafter rescued from the pit toilet on Tuesday after residents heard him crying and they alerted security agents and the state Ministry of Women and Social Welfare. Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the Media Assistant to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, disclosed the news of the baby’s death to journalists on Thursday.
“All efforts to resuscitate the baby including administration of oxygen and fluids with cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the hospital proved abortive,” she said.
