The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said it never advocated the growth of cannabis sativa for medicinal purpose or economic gain, adding that it had destroyed 3,900 hectares of cannabis sativ

a in Ondo State.

The governor was reported on Saturday as saying the state government was planning to take advantage of the commercial value of the plant to create jobs for the youth. But the NDLEA chairman said in a release on Monday that he never visited Thailand to advocate cannabis cultivation, saying Nigeria’s staunch opposition to legalising cannabis as restated at the Commission on Narcotic Drugs’ round-table talks in March 2019 still stands.

“This is far from the truth. At no point did I make any remark in favour of the commercial and medicinal value or monetary gain of cannabis.

This cannabis can be used for the manufacturing of drugs and other useful products .Why can't we use this cannabis and make money.?

NDLEA needs to look at export of medical cannabis. There is a demand for this product in overseas markets to treat medical illnesses. Doctors abroad are writing marijuana certification exams to be able to prescribe this product now entering the realm of medical therapies.

The owners of the country are telling you how their country should be run and you guys are lamenting.

The North is against the rest parts of nigeria. Please stop the fears and speak up

I will just leave these here 🤔

ayemojubar “The purpose of d visit to Thailand is to understudy how d country has successfully migrated some of her citizens hitherto engaged in illicit plant cultivation to d cultivation of legitimate economic crops&other lawful businesses.'...so u guys took estacode to Thailand just 4 dis

Media can mislead people sha 🤦🏻‍♂️ Imagine if didn’t read the article now I will just be sounding like everybody

This government knows they are too unorganized to handle this. Only an organised government can handle cannabis. If they try it with the rate of unemployment Nigeria will be smoky on the map

Why? Why?

cykeekelem Retrogressive thinking and action. Burning 'money' and destroying nature in the process. When are we going get sense in Nigeria? Throwing the baby away with the birth-water. Nseme eti eti!

Burnt 3900 hectares of land, something that can bring huge amount of revenue to the state .. what’s the future of this country ........

Burnt 3,900 hectares ? Sorry for Nigeria

That's the stark difference between the northern part and southern part. The latter is thinking progressively about their states' economy while the former is thinking 'command & control' of Nigeria. Two non-homogeneous set of people.

DrJoeAbah This happens in unitary system we run.

So Mr Governor had no approval before wasting tax payers' money on illegal business?

What does the constitution say concerning cannabis, this is a federation, . Lets stop this selected practice & constitution implementation. Niger Delta has oil Zamfara gold Sokoto gold Ondo cannabis Kano hides & Skin Nigeria is feeding only on oil CHEAT CHEAT CHEATING

😏 is this Nigeria's problem? Pls let's solve the electricity and employment issue b4 all this track and field events 😡😡

I don't get it. How did we get here?

dondekojo We do need to decentraour govt tbh. If Ondo starts making money from this, those self righteous states wouldnt mind a share of the revenue o. Same way hisbah destroys liquor up north but same states get a share of the VAT off same shit

This is unwise and retrogressive. Must state always wait on federal allocations or bail out from the FG. Just some days ago the governor travelled with his entourage to learn how to cultivate this plant for foreign export in exchange for revenue. So, it was a wasted effort.

DrJoeAbah Man wan keep him hustle.

Wait, so he wasted resources travelling to Thailand with his entourage. This country sha!

DrJoeAbah 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Everybody has the right to learn what they want to learn. Ndlea boss learnt crop trade and governor learnt cannabis trade 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ndlea_nigeria if this story is true then you guys has failed this country. Huge medical potential and revenue and you destroyed them! 😡

Will this man make it to second term the way he's going.😹

Our country would never move forward Burning down future economic positivity. SMH

Shows the governor just like the govt is quite dull also, change the Laws governing cannabis use, sale etc before hopping on a plane to wherever to learn whatever, jokers all of them

Dingbats NDLEA MedicalMarijuana

Burning hectares of land that would yield positive economic results. Backward country

Lol😂😂😂😂😂

And some quarters will be preaching diversification of the economy, hmmmm

Idiocy of the highest order.
