Amid the rise in harmful emissions, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has launched save-energy stoves which will be distributed to 3,000 women, internally displaced persons, and flood victims.

In a statement on Thursday, the agency disclosed that the stoves were over 40 per cent saving in cooking time while also enabling a friendly environment.

The statement noted that the production of the stoves which comes from agricultural wastes, will reduce harmful emissions, check desertification, reduce the unemployment rate and save the country’s climate. The Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI, Prof Mohammad Haruna, who unveiled the new innovation, said the stoves will be handed over to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development for onward distribution to IDPs.

He said, “This agency has launched and will distribute 3,000 units of the NASENI-Atmosfair Save 80 Energy Efficient Stove, jointly designed and manufactured by NASENI and Atmosfair to reduce harmful emissions, reduce desertification and save our climate. “There is also over 40 per cent saving in cooking time and environmentally friendly compared to firewood and charcoal fuelling methods, with increasing energy efficiency.”
