N16m loans: 75 ex-corpers abandoned certificates —NYSC Foundation

The National Youth Service Corps Foundation has said it is currently searching for about 75 ex-corps members who fled with about N16m business loans given to them, after using their discharge certificates as collateral.

The NYSC Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bako Ventim, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, during a soft loan disbursement programme at the NYSC Headquarters.He added that the discharge certificates of the 75 defaulting ex-corps members were with the foundation and would soon be published in the national dailies except they paid.

Ventim said, “There are some of these former corps members who benefitted from the loans, who have not repaid the loans. We have their NYSC certificates with us and at some point; we were wondering whether those certificates were fake. We had to link up with the certificates department which confirmed to us that the certificates were genuine. We have their certificates; they have our money.“We have a lot of defaulters.

Unless you’re afraid that this country doesn’t obey the rule of law, no one can arrest you for being in default of a loan as the law clearly provides means by which a lender may pursue a default.

I don't get it,16mill per corper or 75 shared 16million which is less than 230,000. Na wah for this country. Anyway am sure they will surely come get their certificate some day,no need to invite efcc cos of 230,000

Later they can go swear an affidavit after all Affidavit Pass Certificate (APC)

Don't blame them, the economy too hard, to make money out of borrowed money and repay back in this country no be jaaz
