The monarch gave the charge during the commissioning of the new palace at Upata, as he called for rewriting of the history of traditional institutions as gatekeepers of culture of a people.
In his address, Otuwarikpo stated that the era, when kings ruled from their private residences, is over, insisting that it is a misnomer for a king to rule from his private abode. “We cannot have kings without institutions. It is a misnomer for kings to rule from their personal houses. Every King must rule in a central palace. We made this commitment to the governor.”
