A middle-aged man, Onuora Innoma, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State. The man, who has been arrested by police, was also said to have confessed to the crime.

Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who spoke to journalists, said she had ordered immediate remand of the suspect, after his detention at the Inland Town Police Division, Onitsha. She frowned at the nefarious act of preying on underage girls, vowing to take every available legal means to bring the perpetrator to book, to serve as deterrent to others. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

'Going by the way the incident happened, the man took advantage of her to have a carnal knowledge while she was walking along a lonely road, after she was sent on an errand.
