The Federal High Court, Damaturu, Yobe State granted an application for an order of substituted service of court processes on the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, brought by the winner of the Yobe North senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Bashir Machina.

The Justice, Fadimatu Mohammed, on Thursday, granted the application after one of the lead counsels to Machina, Nureini Jimoh , moved the application that since the case was filed in the Court on 22nd June 2022, the bailiffs found it difficult to serve the writ of the sermon to the Senate President who is the second defendant in the case.

Bashir Machina had in a suit filed on the 22nd June 2022 asked the Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu to declare him an authentic senatorial candidate of APC for Yobe North and order INEC to recognise him as such.Related NewsMachina had won the ticket after polling 289 votes in the primary election which was duly observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies.

He has been at loggerheads with the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, following the latter’s attempt to claim the ticket after losing his bid for the party’s presidential slot.had earlier reported that the APC had submitted Lawan’s name as the candidate for the Yobe North Senatorial zone for 2023, prompting Machina to seek legal redress. All rights reserved.
