t out of the country, which is the reason for the permanent long queues at embassies and the crowd trekking through the desert to Europe.

Due to the poor economic situation and other unpleasant factors like lack of basic social amenities and growing insecurity, so many frustrated Nigerians have moved out of the country. But while the number of unskilled youths, trooping out to other countries is a source of concern to many, more worrisome is the alarming rate of the exodus of professionals, including medical workers.

While some people view the exodus as having negative effects on the nation, the Dean, Faculty of Technology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Benjamin Imasogie, toldthat the mass movement of professionals to other countries had the positive and negative implications for the country. Musa said, “They are trooping out of the country because there is unemployment. Some of them are desirous to be educated but they cannot afford it here. Insecurity in the country is widespread and since they don’t want to die young, they are desperately looking for the way out. They know that the basic necessities of life, which are considered to be luxury here, would be guaranteed over there, especially in the advanced countries even before they start working.
