LCCI, ACCI, others raise concerns as Buhari seeks nod for fresh $6.1bn loan - Punch Newspapers

Sunday Aborisade, Leke Baiyewu, Okechukwu Nnodim, Dayo Adenubi and Sami OlatunjiThe President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , has asked the National Assembly to approve N2.3tn external loan to enable him to fund part of the 2021 N13.8trn national budget.

He said the loan would enable the Federal Government to fund critical infrastructural projects in transportation, health and education among others. The projects listed under the 2018-2020 external borrowing plan, according to Buhari, are to be financed through sovereign loans from the World Bank, African Development Bank, and French Development Agency.

He said it would also enable the government to create employment, reduce poverty as well as protect the most vulnerable and very poor segments of the Nigerian society. The President, ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, said the chamber was aware of the government’s plan to fund the deficit in the 2021 budget.

By the time you all wake up in 2023, this man would have borrowed our economy away. CBN secretly devalued the naira, by 2023, 1 Dollar will be 1,000 naira. For those of you waiting for change, this Nigerian shall push u into poverty.

The only time this president acts in a right frame of mind is when he wants to borrow money thereafter he will log out until the next borrowing session.

This government is flawed the earlier we rescue it the better for us all.
