'Chief Olu Falae was kidnapped, Chief Fasoranti’s daughter was killed, our women were raped, and our farmlands were destroyed and so on. The centralised police system does not appear to respond to us; they claim to have no mandate to go to the forest.'

From Victor Oluwasegun, Abuja; Ernest Nwokolo, Abeokuta; Ogochukwu Anioke, Abakaliki; Adesoji Adeniyi, Toba Adedeji, Osogbo; Damisi Ojo, Akure; Yinka Adeniran, Ibadan, Tajudeen Adebanjo and Opeyemi SamuelHouse Committee on Public Accounts Chairman Oluwole Oke hailed the initiative, saying it will benefit non-Yorubas.

“They should not do something that is not on the basis of the reality of the situation in the Southwest to push the kind of their excuses and threats to the system and the country.” He said: “The Yoruba nation has been offended grievously and assaulted seriously in the last three years. “I imagined him to be in constant communication with the state governors so he knows and feels our pulse and know what we are feeling.”

OYC National President, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said: “Anyone fighting against regional security outfits in the South is a proponent and beneficiary of insecurity challenges facing Nigeria and should be arrested for such stance.” The Osun State Muslim Community declared support for Amotekun, three days after it issued a communique rejecting the outfit on the ground that it was confrontational and sectional.
