ICYMI: Lagos partners NESP on energy efficiency code | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

Speaking during the inauguration of the Technical Working Group on the adoption of Building Energy Efficiency Code for Lagos State in Ikeja, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, said that BEEC was the follow up to the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency that the Lagos State Government had subscribed to under the egies of the International Finance Corporation.

He said that the two programmes would run concurrently to strengthen the resolve to ensure an organised, liveable and sustainable physical environment. He added that the inauguration of TWG, comprising professionals from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and its agencies, was a milestone towards adopting BEEC.

He urged members of the TWG to adapting knowledge gained to their practice for the betterment of the built environment in the state and wellbeing of the people. On the mandate of the group, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Abiola Kosegbe, stated that it would midwife the process of adopting BEEC in physical planning Laws and create awareness as well as get the buy-in of by stakeholders.
