Policemen mount a road block with a stick to prevent the movement of motorists in compliance with lockdown by the authorities to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Lagos on March 31, 2020.

Africa’s largest city Lagos was deserted Tuesday after Nigeria locked down its economic hub and shuttered its capital, in the continent’s latest effort to brake the juggernaut of coronavirus.

Police in protective equipment manned checkpoints, trucks carrying non-essential items were turned back and youths were spotted playing football on a usually traffic-clogged highway.“I don’t know how people can survive for two weeks without working to make money.” Officials insist the draconian measures are needed urgently to ward off an explosion in infections that could easily overwhelm the weak health system in Africa’s most populous nation.

Life gives many reasons for crying, but it also offers many seasons to smile and laugh. Please, if you can, I just pray thee to focus on the laughter and happy sides of life.

'INITIAL 14 DAYS' and people have started lamenting.

The President just woke up and announced a lock down without reasoning the sought of hardship the masses. A government that is powerless to regulate the prices of commodities in the market.

africaupdates The government should have given the people more time to prepare for this lockdown since the government would not be providing money or food to the people.

The government no what they are doing. Telling you to stay indoor is for ur own good.......

The government should find a way nah,dis lockdown can cause alot of problem ooo😞😞😞😞

It is the only responsible and responsive that capable of taking the bold step. Locking hapless citizens indoor with no palliative measure from Government is inhumane and senseless.

Pls provide soft landing for the masses... All law maKers are just prepared to the teeth... Lockdown 14days hunger will do lots of damages

With the series of donations by private, cooperate and public organization to the FG,.. FGN should make these funds available to the general public for the success of the total lockdown for GOD sake,...

Bcos there’s nothing to eat

FG should come up with To Do list for us Cos I’m losing my mind

🙄🙄🙄🙄

As much as its really inconvenient... it's for our own good... it's just sad we're a failed country
