The Lagos State Government in collaboration with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund has highlighted the importance of rehabilitation of children in conflict with the law across the state.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Olusegun Dawodu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, adding that the Diversion Community Rehabilitation programme for children at high risk of offending in the state has come to stay.

Dawodu, who was represented by the ministry’s Director, Rehabilitation Department, Mrs Modupe Bello, was quoted to have said this during the presentation of certificate and vocational equipment to graduands of Diversion Community Rehabilitation programme in Mushin. He said, “This again is an expression of the all-inclusive governance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“It should be noted that this programme has come to stay and will continue to spread across other local government areas/local council development areas in the state where other children in conflict with the law will benefit as efforts are ongoing to ensure this.” UNICEF Representative, Mr Dennis Onoise, said that the global organisation decided to partner with the state in a bid to secure the future of children.
