The Amir of MSSLagos, Miftaudeen Thanni, said at the last Common Entrance examinations, Muslim students were placed at a disadvantage by being mandated to answer some CRS questions.
According to the student leader, the inclusion of IRS in the examination questions will have been alternative and prevented injustice to the Muslim students. “The deliberate act of setting only CRS in the general paper is a misnomer, knowing fully well that Muslim students will also take part in the examination. Nigeria is a multi religious society and not a mono-religious state,” he said.
It would be recalled that the Muslim students recently won the Hijab case where the Supreme Court granted the use of Hijab as part of the uniform for willing female Muslim students in Lagos State public schools. Thanni, therefore, urged governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to issue an official statement on the implementation of the court rules to avoid further discrimination and victimisation of Hijab-wearing Muslim students by the authority when schools resume next week.
