A legal practitioner and member of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Banjo, has indicated interest in contesting the October 31 by-election for the Lagos East Senatorial District.

Banjo said he had made his intention known to his party by submitting a letter to its leadership in the state. He noted that the support by the Lagos Frontliners Initiative triggered his interest in contesting the election.Banjo, who served as the Deputy Director of Planning and Strategy for Sanwo-Olu’s Independent Campaign Group in 2019, noted in a statement that his educational qualifications and wealth of experience would be beneficial to the state and his constituency, if opprtune.

He added, “I am of the utmost belief that I am qualified to serve my people as their senator for Lagos East Senatorial District based on my educational qualifications and political experience. I also believe that my experience as a politician with contacts nationwide would help me settle into the job easily as those in the senate are people I have known for more than 15 years.”
