The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it has created six new waterfront schemes to reduce housing and land deficit in the state.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, disclosed this at the annual press briefing to commemorate the second year in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The commissioner said the schemes were located in Idogun in Ibeju- Lekki Local Governmrnt Area, Lepia in Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Alayande- Sangotedo in Eti-Osa LGA, Owode-Apa in Badagry LGA, Akodo in Ibeju-Lekki LCDA and Ibeshe in Ikorodu LGA.

He also disclosed that the government had opened up four new navigable ferry routes to complement existing routes in the last one year in order to boost water transport. Abdullahi noted that part of the ministry’s mandate was the provision of navigable ferry routes in the Lagos waters for smooth sailing of bigger boats, hence the need for channelisation of all identifiable ferry routes in the state.
